For Teens Who Feel Different, Overwhelmed, and Like They Just Can't Quite Keep Up

You know something is off. Your teen is smart, funny, and you can see how hard they're trying. But they're exhausted, overwhelmed, and struggling in ways that feel bigger than typical teenage stuff. What starts as a gentle reminder can quickly turn into an argument, leaving you both frustrated and disconnected. They smile on the outside but underneath you see them becoming paralyzed with worry, and it devastates you. You just want them to feel okay. And you want your relationship with them back.

Therapy can help!

Serving clients throughout Washington and Arizona via telehealth, including Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Spokane, Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff.

Does This Sound Familiar?

  • Reminders turn into arguments and you're not sure how to reach them anymore

  • They have big feelings but struggle to put them into words

  • Friendships feel harder for them than they seem to be for everyone else

  • They get stuck in spiraling thoughts or worries they can't shake

  • They avoid things that make them anxious and the list keeps growing

  • Schoolwork is a constant battle despite how smart you know they are

  • You can see their confidence taking hit after hit and it breaks your heart

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place!

Teen Therapy at Snow Globe Counseling is Different

Most teen therapy focuses on coping skills and getting through the week. That's useful, but it doesn't address why things are hard in the first place. At Snow Globe Counseling we go deeper than symptom management. We look at how your teen's brain works, what's driving the anxiety or the overwhelm, and what kind of support will actually make a difference for them specifically. Sessions are practical and collaborative, always ending with something real your teen can take into their week. And because everything is via telehealth, they can access support from the comfort of home without adding another overwhelming thing to the schedule.

Wondering if I’m the right fit for your teen?

Hey, If You’re the Teen Reading This…

Therapy was probably not your idea. And that's okay. You don't have to be excited about it or even sure it's going to help. All you have to do is show up.

Here's what I want you to know: I'm not here to fix you or report back to your parents about everything you say. Our sessions are your space. You get to decide what we talk about and how fast we go. I'm not going to make you do anything you're not ready for.

  • Why everything feels so overwhelming lately

  • The friend situation that's been eating at you

  • The thoughts you can't seem to turn off

  • Feeling like you don't quite fit in anywhere

  • Why you shut down when things get hard

  • The pressure to have it all figured out when you definitely don't

You might want to talk about…

A lot of teens come in feeling like nobody really gets what's going on for them. Like they're too much, or too different, or too hard to understand. That's usually not true. They just haven't had the right person in their corner yet.

I'd like to be that person, if you'll let me.

What We Work On Together

Every teen is different, so every approach is too.
Here's some of what we might focus on:

  • Understanding how your teen's brain works and building strategies that actually fit

  • Managing big emotions before they take over

  • Tackling the anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or OCD patterns that are getting in the way

  • Building confidence in friendships and social situations

  • Developing organizational skills that work with their brain, not against it

  • Helping them figure out who they are and learn to trust themselves

  • Strengthening your relationship with them along the way

A Note for Parents

Research consistently shows that when parents do their own work, kids get better too. That's not a coincidence. The way you respond to your teen's struggles, the anxiety you carry about their future, and the patterns from your own history all show up in your relationship with them whether you realize it or not.

If your teen isn't ready to come to therapy yet, we can start with you. Together we can work on understanding what's going on for your teen, how to communicate with them without it turning into a battle, and how to manage your own worry about what their future looks like, especially when the path forward feels uncertain for a neurodivergent kid who is developing on their own timeline.

You don't have to wait for your teen to be ready. Sometimes the most powerful thing a parent can do is start with themselves.
